Lexington E-Filing Begins September 5th!

August 16, 2017 By Jesse Near

Lexington County is preparing to begin e-filing on September 5, 2017 and we are told the other counties in the 11th circuit will follow. There will be an e-filing training session scheduled for August 24th at 2:00 p.m. at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), located at 407 Ballpark Road, Lexington, SC 29072.  It will last about an hour and 15 minutes, with 50 minutes to an hour of it being a CLE with practical instruction on e-filing.

Here is the link to the e-filing portal page: http://www.sccourts.org/ efiling/.  It contains general information about e-filing, including how-to videos and written step by step guides.  They also have free webinars available, offered most Fridays at 10:00 a.m.  The next webinar is scheduled for August 25th.  There is another one scheduled for September 1st, then one on the 15th, then another on the 29th.

Here is the web address for sign-ups for the webinars:  http://www.sccourts.org/ efiling/webinars.cfm.  Lawyers can get a free hour of CLE, but anyone can sign up to view.  It provides good, basic information about the process for lawyers and paralegals and is a good way to learn the basics of the system.  For lawyers and paralegals, it is recommend to look at the Tips of the week posted on the e-filing FAQs link once you become a little familiar with the process.  These provide some good instructions for lawyers and paralegals, particularly about issues that occur frequently.  http://www.sccourts.org/ efiling/viewFAQs.cfm? categoryID=16.
